Coronavirus Updates
The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) ended on May 11, 2023. As a result, some of the healthcare benefits that were expanded during the PHE have ended or changed.
Benefit coverage for COVID-19 testing, prevention, treatment, and more:
- COVID-19 vaccines will continue to be covered as a preventive service, with no cost share, as long as the service is provided by an in-network provider or facility.
- Out-of-network costs will apply if the service is not rendered in-network.
- Laboratory COVID-19 testing, COVID-19 treatment, and telehealth benefits will be covered according to benefit documents.
- Over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 tests will not be covered.

For members who would like to pay their monthly premium in-person, you are welcome to drop off your check to the building without an appointment.
Our PHP Medicare sales representatives are also scheduling in-person appointments for those who would like learn more about PHP Medicare, including Sparrow Advantage.
If you are not feeling well or prefer to do business online, we will continue to provide no-contact options, including MyPHP member portal, sending a secure message, and online bill pay. Vaccination against COVID-19 is recommended for those 6 months of age and older, and is the most effective way to protect yourself, your family, and community against severe illness and hospitalization. Vaccines are covered as a preventive service, at no cost share, as long as the vaccine is administered by an in-network provider or facility.
Vaccinations are available at all major retail pharmacies and local county health departments.

Lab testing and treatment for COVID-19 is covered according to your plan's benefit design. If you have questions about your plan benefits, please contact Customer Service at the number listed on the back of your Member ID Card.

Treatment, both outpatient and inpatient, is covered at the member’s stated plan benefit and member cost share (copay, co-insurance, deductible) will apply. COVID-19 treatment performed by an out-of-network provider is covered as outlined by your health plan coverage and out-of-network cost share will apply. Not all plans include out-of-network coverage. If you are traveling outside of the PHP service area and need to see a doctor for an urgent situation, please contact Zelis Healthcare at 866.807.6193. A phone call or telehealth visit with your provider, if available, or telehealth through Amwell may also be an option when traveling outside the service area.
